About Us. Schweitzer Red was started in November of 2014. I have had a commercial herd since 1999 that I started with my late grandpa Jim Wehrs. In 2001-2004, I worked at the University of Nebraska Cow Calf Research center and was active in the Bull and Cow Calf program for three years.
